Primary/Elementary (Ages 3 - 9)

Once Upon a Masterpiece

Explore art, stories and adventure with masterpieces from the AGO Collection. In this guided tour, create mini-sculptures with Model Magic along the way to unleash your creativity.

Elementary/Secondary (Ages 10+)

Highlights of the Collection

Explore a range of artworks in the AGO collection to understand how artists have used visual media as a source of inspiration, creativity and wonder. In this guided session, participants will be invited to create their own unique responses inspired by the collection.

 

 

Booking Guidelines for Summer Group Visits

GROUP SUPERVISION

For safety and security, a minimum number of adult supervisors is required to accompany each group (please see below for details). There is no charge for the required number of adult supervisors. Groups arriving without the required number of supervisors may be denied entry. Adult supervisors are required to stay with their groups for the duration of the visit. Appropriate behaviour is the sole responsibility of the adult supervisors.

Supervision Ratio – Adults to Children/Youth

Ages 4 to 8 - 1:5

Ages 9 to 11 - 1:8

Ages 12 to 13 - 1:10

Ages 14 to 16 - 1:15

 

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Full payments is due to confirm reservations for both guided gallery visits and self-guided visits. The AGO accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit, cash or cheque. Please make all cheques payable to the Art Gallery of Ontario.

CHANGES

The Group Leader must notify the AGO three (3) weeks before their visit if there are changes to the number of children and youths participating in the Summer Group Visit that exceed the maximum of 25 persons per group (not including chaperones).

CANCELLATIONS

Notice of cancellation must be received in writing at the AGO via email. These emails are to be sent to [email protected]. The payment is non-refundable if notice of cancellation is received less than two (2) weeks before the day of the visit. The client acknowledges and agrees that the aforementioned cancellation charges are not a penalty and represent a genuine and reasonable estimate of costs, expenses and losses incurred by the AGO.

SUMMER GROUP VISITS FAQ

What is a Summer Group Visit?

A summer group visit is 10 or more visitors (Age 5 to 17) led by a supervisor and chaperones.

Does free admission for 25 and under apply to summer groups?

No. Summer group pricing is based on a per group rate. Group visits include more than just access to the AGO: expedited check-in, group lunch space, free coat and bag check. There’s also a dedicated group entrance and space for your bus to drop off and pick up to ensure the logistics of your trip go smoothly.

Do I require a booking in order to visit with my summer group?

Yes. In order to ensure space and the best possible experience for your group, you must register in advance. Groups who do not have a booking will be denied entry. In order to book your summer group please complete a booking form.

Bookings must be made at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of a guided gallery visit and at least three (3) days prior to the date of a self-guided visit.

General Itinerary for Summer Group Visits

Before arriving at the AGO

  • Prior to your group’s arrival, kindly confirm your arrival time and attendance numbers. 
  • When you arrive at the gallery, please enter through the Group Entrance located at the corner of Dundas and Beverley. Proceed downstairs to the Education Commons, where you will find tables and a bag check, as no bags are allowed in the Gallery. 
  • Please let us know if any member of your group has mobility restrictions and/or medical concerns that we should be aware of if we need to assist in the unlikely event of an emergency (for example: allergies and require the use of an Epipen)

Arriving at the AGO

  • Upon check-in, please provide us with the name and on-site telephone number (cell phone) for the Group Leader responsible for the group, in the event we need to get in touch with you during your visit.
  • The Group desk is available up to 1:30 PM; if you anticipate arriving after that time, please use the main entrance and Coat Check on the Main Level.

While visiting the AGO

  • Group Leaders and Chaperones must stay with their group at all times during the visit and are responsible for any minors.
  • Backpacks are not permitted in the galleries and must be kept at bag check.
  • Running is not permitted inside the AGO
  • To ensure the enjoyment of the Gallery for all, we ask that voices are kept at an acceptable level (no shouting)
  • You are welcome to bring packed lunches and have them in the Annex or the Weston Family Learning Centre located on the Concourse level. There’s also an affordable food court across the street from the gallery called Village by the Grange.
