“Care for your clothes, like the good friends they are” – Joan Crawford

In a time of fast fashion and disposable clothing, taking time to repair and care for your clothes can be a radical act. In this modern Home Ec. workshop, participants will be introduced to basic mending, cleaning and ironing for vintage clothes. Participants will have the chance to learn basic embroidering and darning skills for both visible and invisible mending.

Andréa Lalonde graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and design with an interdisciplinary degree. She splits her time working with vintage and visual arts, fascinated by ways those come together. Andréa owns Nouveau Riche Vintage, a collection and pop-up project. She previously worked as a vintage clothing buyer in Montreal for many years and as an assistant for a film and television costume collection. Over the last 15 years, Andréa has worked as an artist-educator at museums and artist-run centres including the ROM, the AGO, the Design Exchange and Oakville Galleries.
