Free After Three Tuesdays: Indigo Dyeing

Weston Family Learning Centre, Art Gallery of Ontario

Learn about the complex plant dye that makes your jeans blue! First used in India, indigo is among the oldest dyes used for textile dyeing. Explore a variety of tie-up techniques and watch the rich process that creates that beautiful blue. You are welcome to bring your own fabrics to dye.

Anni Spadafora is an interdisciplinary artist and performer based in Toronto. She is a member of the no-wave band, New Fries. Recent project and performance sites include Gardiner Museum (Toronto), Khyber Centre for the Arts (Halifax), Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), and Sled Island (Calgary). Anni is also a hand weaver and was in residence at the Marshfield School of Weaving (Vermont) in Fall 2017.
