EXHIBITION OVERVIEW
Bruce Nauman (American, born 1941) is one of the most significant and influential living artists. He works in a range of media including sculpture, photography, neon, video, drawing, printmaking and performance. Words play a significant role in Nauman's diverse artistic output. This exhibition focuses on Nauman's prints from the 70s and 80s, and also includes the video installation Good Boy Bad Boy. Drawn from the AGO's Contemporary Collection, Nauman explores the evocative power of language and our ability to communicate and miscommunicate. As Nauman says: “When language begins to break down a little bit, it becomes exciting and communicates in nearly the simplest way that it can function: you are forced to be aware of the sounds and the poetic parts of words.”
