Art & Ideas: Obsession, Repetition, Proliferation
This course combines drawing, printmaking and sculpture, growing one’s skills each week toward completing a culminating artwork. Inspired by the work of Yayoi Kusama, circles, stars, pumpkins and more, this course begins with students researching, exploring and developing a personalized motif in the studio. Through a dynamic series of drawing exercises and other 2D approaches including printing, allowing for repetition of one’s motif, students will then continue to develop their project into sculptural form. Find your unique shape or image, and see it repeat and grow in exciting, unimaginable ways!
Materials for class will be provided.
ATTENTION: No class Monday May 21.
Please note: this course will NOT include a tour of the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirros exhibition; students are encouraged to see it, but it is not required to participate in the class.
