Drawing Explorations: Automatic Drawing Today
Les Automatistes were a group of Québécois artists in the early 1940s who were influenced by Surrealism and its theory of automatism. Members included Jean-Paul Riopelle whose work is currently on view at the AGO. Invited to make new interpretations of automatic drawing, students will work through a combination of impulse mark-making and expressive techniques.
This course meets in the AGO's Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School. Participants must be 18 or older. Space is limited.
Materials for the first class are provided. Students will receive a list of required materials for the following classes.
