Sculpture Explorations: Costumes and Wearables in Florine Stettheimer: Painting Poetry
Step into the playful, colourful and personal world of artist Florine Stettheimer. Imagine yourself as part of the creative coterie of American Modern artists where you can explore the experimental visual, written and performance art that Stettheimer both participated in and fostered in her private salons with vanguard artists of the time. Working right inside the gallery space this course will explore sculpture through wearable art, engaging with a range of techniques including embroidery, hand sewing, assemblage, applique, fabric manipulation and more. Please bring a laundered piece of clothing in the first class that you are willing to cut, stitch, rip, and alter; the more unique the clothing the better! All other materials will be provided.
Students are asked to print out a copy of their receipt and gather in the Community Gallery located in the WFLC for the start of the first class. Receipt must be presented at the start of each class. Please check any oversized bags and outerwear.
