Making Cards Together ( + Adult) 1 Day Workshop

Join us for our 1 day family workshops where children with an adult caregiver will explore artworks in our collection and get inspired to create back in the studio. Learn fun techniques including collagraph and relief printmaking, and print multiple cards to give to your friends and family. You’ll also make your own custom envelopes!

This class is for 1 child and 1 adult.

Drawing, Painting & Mixed Media

With the AGO's collection as inspiration, young artists stretch the boundaries of their creativity while learning a variety of drawing, painting and mixed media techniques. Experiment with materials such as acrylic and watercolour paint, chalk, charcoal and paper collage. This is a great class for introducing students to a range of artmaking materials and techniques, and also for those looking to take their work to the next level by combining these fundamental art mediums in new and exciting ways.

Hello AGO!

Hello AGO! Join us for a gallery adventure! We'll learn about awesome art by exploring the AGO collections and use that inspiration to create exciting mixed media works of art back in the studio! Paint, draw, sculpt and more in this class that introduces you to making art with the AGO! 

This class is for beginners and returning students. The instructor will teach to each student's individual skill level. All materials are included. Meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.

Side by Side- Comfort Food with an Adult (4-6 yrs.)

Have fun getting creative, learning about the AGO collection, and making art alongside your young artist. In this in-person course, children with an adult caregiver will explore exciting art-making techniques inspired by some of our favourite foods found within the AGO’s artworks. Participants will learn how to reinvent art materials while working on individual and shared projects.

Youth Studio

Develop your artistic voice in this 4 week multimedia course that provides strong technical instruction on a variety of painting, drawing and printmaking techniques while also encouraging play and experimentation.  Students will also learn how to develop and use their sketchbooks effectively in the pursuit of creating portfolio ready works of art.

Studio Sampler: Art for the Curious Beginners

Never been in a studio? Unsure whether you were born to paint or a prefer to sketch?  Here’s your chance to explore! Join us for our sampler event and try your hand at  throwing paint on a canvas, creating a print and putting pencil to paper. You just might surprise yourself!

Integrated Studio Projects: Sculpture Age 14-18

Focus on Sculpture Experimentations.  

Integrated Studio Projects (ISP) is an intensive interdisciplinary studio course with a focus on contemporary art making. Students are exposed to new materials, techniques and contemporary artistic practice through gallery visits, discourse and studio. Materials and processes might include mixed and new media, installation and 3-D construction/sculpture. ISP is designed for youth who wish to build technical skills, explore their own creative practice and build a portfolio.
