RISE (Reaching Intelligent Souls Everywhere) is a grassrootsorganization empowering Black youth. RISE empowers BIPOC youth in the Greater Toronto Area to create meaningful art rooted in self-knowledge and self-expression and provides training in media arts production and leadership. Their model encourages youth to dive deep into their stories while using art as a cathartic practice to explore vulnerability and create room to best deal with their mental health in an atmosphere of interpersonal connection and mutual support and respect. RISE believes safe platforms encourages self- expression and self reflection, providing opportunities for youth to experience the power of community healing through art and anti-racist education.
