EXHIBITION OVERVIEW

Who are you on the inside? Millions of selfies are taken and shared every day - what do they really reveal about us? Vancouver-based artists Hanif Janmohamed and Maria Lantin have created an online experimental Inner Selfie Generator for us to imagine and represent our inner selves.

Their project, called Inner Selfies, asks us to question our assumptions about identity. It uses an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan of the human brain as a symbolic container of the thoughts, beliefs, feelings, memories and sensations that echo through our brain, body and heart. The artists ask us to explore this maker space, their website, and focus on what's inside of us to create unique sculptures and digital artworks that represent our inner selfies.
