Hands-On Centre

At The Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre, you'll find art-making and creative play activities for the whole family, from our youngest learner on up! There's lots to do in the Hands-On Centre: from art-making and constructing to storytelling and costume play. You might even make a new friend! Explore and create with a variety of art-making materials and projects. Our exhibition and collections based programs change frequently, and our team of Facilitators is here to support creative family learning time together.

This season, art-making projects are inspired by Early RubensThe Baroque style plays with light and intense drama, expressing emotion and movement. Projects will include making a framed 'masterpiece' work that focuses on these themes of light, movement, colour and emotion.

Our Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre also includes an art installation, Doors in the Deep, by Labspace Studio. The installation showcases animals seen in artwork throughout the AGO that you can find using our new Arty Animals family self-guided tour (find it at the Art Carts or the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre).

Located on the concourse level of the Gallery in the Weston Family Learning Centre.

Admission to the Hands-On Centre is included in your General Admission ticket, or free unlimited admission with your family membership. *Please note that adult supervision of children in the centre is required at all times.
