Kryptonite: Comic Reactions at the AGO

Kryptonite Comic Reactions at the AGO

July 2001

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Kryptonite: Comic Reactions at the AGO was a free comic and graffiti-inspired event featuring over 20 youth artists from across the GTA. Inspired by the exhibition Greg Curnoe: Life & Stuff, the event included chalk drawings on the front walk of the AGO by some of the GTA’s most talented up-and-coming graffiti and chalk artists, as well as theatre on the street by super-hero styled youth performers. Event goers were invited to inscribe their own comic-style messages on the sidewalk, take a free workshop by a local youth artist or visit a display of works on paper, canvas and video on the AGO’s lower level. The event was covered by City TV’s Breakfast Television and attracted 400 visitors.
