Collage and Mixed Media: Inspired by Moments in Modernism

In this course on collage inspired by Moments in Modernism, students will immerse themselves in the vibrant and expanded world of Modern Art, drawing inspiration from artistic movements such as Pop Art, Abstraction, Realism and Minimalism. Participants will initially create papers for collage using surface design techniques such as stamping, stenciling, offset and monoprint, staining, scraping etc. We’ll create vibrant collages using these papers. We’ll develop low relief assemblage works, combining fabric, paint, and found objects to create multi-layered, visually engaging pieces. The course will cover signature techniques, including the use of texture and layering, while encouraging students to experiment and develop their own artistic style. By engaging in hands-on projects and discussions, students will not only gain technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for the expressive potential of modern and contemporary art practices.

This course is suitable for all skill levels. Meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.
