Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media (6-7 yrs)
Working from original works of art, with the AGO’s amazing collection at their fingertips as inspiration, your child will learn about a wide variety of age appropriate drawing, painting and mixed media techniques and skills. We take concepts that children love to explore- colour, light, form, texture - and build on those interests, encouraging exploration of tools and materials both traditional and not so traditional. Help them discover their own sense of expression in a course that combines drawing and painting with imaginative use of mixed media. Classes visit the galleries frequently, looking at and learning from original works of art and artists.
AGO Children and Family Programs offer an environment that is creative, non-competitive and open-ended, allowing young artists the freedom to explore their own potential and nurture their self-esteem, while building a strong repertoire of techniques and skills. These courses are enriched by regular visits to the galleries and collections of the AGO, providing an exceptional opportunity for learning and creativity.
The philosophy of children’s art classes at the AGO is inquiry-based and focuses on an exploration of the creative process. We take a multi-media approach that allows for a diversity of art-making processes, techniques and materials. This may at times be a less traditional approach than you may expect, with skills and concepts sometimes delivered and taught through engaging, contemporary projects.
All materials are provided. This course meets in the AGO's Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.
ATTENTION: No class Saturday May 19 and Sunday May 20.
