Introduction to Sculpture
Take your inspiration from the amazing array of sculptures on view in the galleries to create your own 3D masterpiece! Designed for the beginner who wishes to work in three dimensions with the objective of completing a sculptural work, the course includes an introduction to the materials and tools required to produce sculpture using an additive process in clay and a mold technique in plaster. In addition to skill development in observation and proportion, contemporary and historical approaches to sculpture fabrication will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to develop techniques within the classroom environment, while being encouraged to find their personal artistic voice as they interpret form through stylization and abstraction.
This course is suitable for a range of skill levels from beginner up, and all basic materials for this course are supplied by the AGO. Meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.
No class on Easter weekend, April 18.
