Watercolour palette

This course introduces the basic skills and concepts of watercolour painting. We will cover the application of washes; the building of a composition from back to front and general to specific; traditional wet on dry or wet into wet approaches;  brush handling and colour mixing; colour temperature; and layering. Subject matter to include landscape, botanical, still life, portraiture, and abstract compositions.

Every season, we offer projects inspired by artworks in the AGO Collection, including new acquisitions as well as special exhibitions where indicated. Instructors also develop personalized approaches to their teaching techniques focused on student interests and needs. Students are encouraged to discuss their learning goals with their instructor.
