Painting Explorations: Still Life

In this course, students will draw from direct observation of paintings and objects in the AGO collections and galleries to explore the visual depiction of form. Students will work from a weekly series of scenes and sets, and in addition to skill development, contemporary and historical approaches to still life representation will be discussed. Through hands-on experimentation and critical analysis of renowned artworks, participants will develop a deeper understanding of colour theory, composition, and the power of visual exploration and symbolism.

This course is suitable for individuals with some painting experience. To get the most out of this course, we recommend taking Introduction to Painting first. Meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.
