Photography Explorations: Impressionism Today
Inspired by the exhibition, Impressionism in the Age of Industry: Monet, Pissarro and more, this course will examine the relation between photography and painting, and how photography impacted the rise of Impressionism. Employing various in-camera techniques, participants will be shown how to create emotional and atmospheric images of the city that resonate with both the painterly and photographic techniques of the Impressionist period, and that reflect the social concerns of modern day Toronto.
This class meets in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School and will include off-site exercises. Students are required to bring their own digital camera and may expect to shoot both indoors and outdoors. Participants must be 18 or older. To get the most from this course, we suggest you take Introduction to Photography first.
