Photography Explorations: Still Life

Still life photography is a genre of photography used for the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically a small group of objects. Similar to still life painting, it is the application of photography to still life. Students will draw from direct observation of paintings and photographs in the AGO collections and galleries to explore form. Students will work from a weekly series of scenes and sets, and from their own still life compositions to learn about photographic emphasis, abstraction, lighting and various other techniques. This class is for those with basic photography skills. Students are required to bring their own cameras and tripods for each class.

This class is suitable for those with basic photography skills. To get the most out of this course, we recommend taking Introduction to Photography first. Meet in Seminar Room 3 located in the Weston Family Learning Centre for the start of the first class.

No class on Victoria Day weekend, May 16.
