Join her in Walker Court for a Caribbean-infused experience as she skillfully plays the iconic hammered metal pans. Originating from Trinidad and Tobago in the early 20th century, steel pans have evolved into a symbol of musical energy, resonating through the streets, festivals, and now cultural and educational institutions.
Sharon Marley Live
Join us for a live concert with internationally renown musical artist Sharon Marley as she premiers a new single and video exclusively at the AGO. The concert is part of AGO Friday Nights: Black History Month celebrations, and will see Ms. Marley return to Toronto with her latest single ‘Steppah,’ ready to reconnect, re-emerge and share the soulful evolution of her musical journey.
OKAN Musica
A spirited evening awaits with Afro-Cuban jazz music, provided by OKAN, a Canadian Afro-Cuban jazz group. OKAN’s core members are Cuban Canadian musicians Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne. Their 2020 album, Espiral, won the Juno Award for World Music Album of the Year in 2021.
