Free After Three Tuesdays: Tie Dyeing

It’s a tie-dye party and you’re invited! Join Toronto artist Paddy Leung and learn a variety of tie-dying techniques to create a one-of-a-kind addition for your D.I.Y. wardrobe. The first 40 participants will get a free T-shirt (but bring your own item of white 100% cotton clothing just in case)!

Free After Three: Style Club - Street-Style Fashion Show

In this workshop feel confident and make a statement in your own individual way. Street-style has become just as influential as the fashion shows themselves. Bring up to five of your favourite pieces and accessories and learn how to style them together to make a look worthy to sashay away. Let your personality shine or just Instagram the inspirational looks from the runway in your favourite sunglasses – because style is always in fashion, darling!

FREE After Three: Style Club - Avant-garde Material Challenge

Inspired by Project Runways’ “Unconventional Material Challenge”, participants will search through the archive of AGO craft and art supplies to create a garment or an accessory. Work it on the runway or just marvel at the innovative and creative designs. And remember designers; make it work.

Vanessa Fischer is an award-winning costume designer and wardrobe stylist, working in Toronto on theatre, commercials, music videos, television and film. She loves the magic that comes from working with different textiles and costumes and loves to create the ideas people see in their dreams.

Free After Three: Style Club - Print Pattern Photo

Learn how to mix, match and clash patterns and prints in this styling workshop led by local designer and stylist Vanessa Fischer. Bring in your own patterned pieces or use the ones we have available to mix prints in different colours, scales, sizes and graphics. Create your own photo shoot, shoot with your own phone and Instagram your favourite choices.

Free After Three: Style Club - T-shirt Design

Elevate this fashion staple by drawing, stencilling, cutting, slicing, painting, braiding, stitching or patching a blank T-shirt. Anything goes! The first 30 participants will get a free T-shirt to work with, but feel free to bring your own shirt if you would like to change it up. Materials and simple designs will be provided to help you custom-make a piece worthy of the runway.

Free After Three: Style Club - Walk-in Closet

Show and tell of gems from the vintage vaults. A selection of fun, iconic and designer vintage clothing from the ‘60s ‘70s,‘80s and ‘90s will be presented with some stories that come along with them. Vintage collector Andréa Lalonde will be presenting items from Nouveau Riche and local costume and historical collections. There will be an opportunity to try on and style a selection of garments. Freelance Editorial Stylist Chad Burton will also be there to talk about styling and collaborate with participants in a hands on styling with the clothes.

Free After Three: Style Club - Mending and Caring for Vintage Treasure

“Care for your clothes, like the good friends they are” – Joan Crawford

In a time of fast fashion and disposable clothing, taking time to repair and care for your clothes can be a radical act. In this modern Home Ec. workshop, participants will be introduced to basic mending, cleaning and ironing for vintage clothes. Participants will have the chance to learn basic embroidering and darning skills for both visible and invisible mending.
