Booking Your Field Trips
The staff at the AGO looks forward to welcoming you and your students when you visit! In collaboration with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), the Aboriginal Education Centre (AEC) and Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), you will be visiting the AGO twice with your students. As part of the course NAC10: Expressing Aboriginal Cultures, we are proud to be offering a learning day and guided tour.
Highlights of the Program
- Meet local Indigenous artists and engage in the art making process.
- See new artworks and engage in conversation with contemporary Indigenous artists.
The program consists of two visits:
First Visit - Learning Day (select from specified dates only)
Second Visit - Guided Tour (book a date different from your First Visit date, Tuesday-Friday)
- Please give the most accurate number of students that will attend. You will be billed for that number of students.
- Please provide any information about your group that will help our staff prepare the program.
First Visit - Learning Day
Each class will participate in ONE Learning Day. The focus of the Learning Days is to deepen student’s understanding and engagement with Indigenous artists and art practices at the AGO. You will receive a schedule for your day one week prior to your visit. Your visit will include:
- An opening and welcome for all students, and introduction to each artist.
- Mini tours of art works by Indigenous artists in our collection including Norval Morriseau, Daphne Odjig, Carl Beam, Rita Letendre, Robert Houle and more, led by AGO staff and visiting artists.
- Artist-led workshops in visual arts, spoken word, drumming and/or dance.
