When can we visit the Gallery and see the venue?

We are pleased to provide a tour of the event spaces at your convenience. Kindly note, the rooms are not shown when booked events are underway.

What time of day can I hold a function in AGO Bistro’s private event spaces?

AGO Bistro is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday. AGO Bistro’s private event spaces are available for lunch Tuesday to Saturday from 12 pm to 3 pm and dinner from 5 pm to 10 pm. On Sundays, AGO Bistro’s private event spaces are open 11 am to 3 pm. AGO Bistro is closed on Mondays but can be opened for special events with an opening fee of $3000.

How many guests can we invite and is there a room rental fee?

There is not a room rental fee but there is a minimum spend required for each private event space. The minimum spend does not include applicable taxes and 18% gratuity.

Do I need to arrange for staff?

Service staff are included during regular business hours.
All interactive reception stations require a chef at $35 per hour for a four (4) hour minimum call time. Additional staff may be required for events taking place outside of regular business hours. Your Event Sales Coordinator will inform you if this is the case.

What does my AGO Bistro booking include?

AGO Bistro’s private event spaces include dining tables and chairs. Cruiser tables and bars can be rented at an additional cost.
Please speak to the Event Sales Coordinator for more details.
The AGO can also make arrangements for additional event requirements such as linens, flowers or furniture.
Depending on your group size, additional stemware, flatware or china may be required.
Your Event Sales Coordinator will inform you if this is necessary.


Do you accept special dietary requests and/or supplied foods?

Yes, we can accommodate your group’s dietary requests. When providing your final guest count 3 business days prior to the event, please notify your Event Sales Coordinator of any guest dietary requirement. We will do our absolute best to accommodate.
Outside food and beverage is not permitted within AGO Bistro with the exception of a cake. If you want to bring in an outside cake, cake cutting fees will apply.

How often do menus change?

Menus usually change seasonally and meals vary based on the availability of fresh, top quality ingredients.

How is the bar arranged?

AGO Bistro is a fully licensed facility in accordance with the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario. Clients can select the brands and variety of items available to guests at the event, including wine off of the restaurant beverage menu.
Our bar services are billed on actual consumption.

All our servers, bar staff, management and security team are SmartServe trained.

Can I bring in my own wine?

Sorry, outside wine (and other beverage) is not permitted in the restaurant.

Do you have children’s meals?

Absolutely! We have fun menus to satisfy all the little appetites at your event. Please ask the Event Sales Coordinator for more details.


How far in advance can we book?

The AGO will accept bookings as far in advance as the venue is available. However, pricing for events booked beyond one year in advance will not be guaranteed.

When do I need to let the AGO know my final guest count?

A guaranteed guest count must be provided three (3) business days prior to the event.

How much are tickets to the Gallery?

Adult admission tickets are $19.50 per person for less than 10 guests and $15.60 per person for 10 guests or more.

Visit and enjoy our Special Exhibitions in the Sam & Ayala Zacks Pavilion. Special Exhibtion tickets for adults cost $25 per person for less than 10 guests, and $20 per person for 10 guests or more.

How much is a Gallery tour?

A hour-long tour can be provided by an Education Officer during regular Gallery hours at a cost of $200, maximum 20 per group.

Can I visit the Gallery after regular hours?

Private, after-hour tours of the AGO permanent collection are available for a private access fee of $1000, plus security, admission and the cost of the Education officer. The private access fee for Special Exhibitions is $2000.

Is the AGO accessible for guests with disabilities?

Can I have a musician or DJ in the private event space?

Unfortunately, no. AGO Bistro restaurant has a curated playlist that is piped through the entire restaurant.

Can I have a projector and screen for my event?

Yes, a projector and screen can be made available at an additional cost. Please speak to your Event Sales Coordinator for more details.

Can my presentation have sound?

Yes, the presentation can have sound with the volume at a reasonable level.

Can I hang decorations in the in AGO Bistro?

No, hanging decorations in AGO Bistro is not allowed and tape cannot be put on the walls.

Does the artwork change on the walls?

Yes, artwork on the walls is subject to change and usually changes every three (3) months. It is not guaranteed that art will be on the walls for functions at AGO Bistro.

Where can I park?

Parking is not available on-site; however, there are many lots in the area. Visit for a complete list of nearby parking locations. Valet parking can be arranged for an additional cost.

How are payments made?

Upon booking, a signed contract agreement and draft estimate is created for your event. An initial non-refundable deposit of 75% of the estimate is required to secure the booking. A detailed estimate will be created during the planning of your event.
The final balance is due within 30 days post-event date.
A certified or personal cheque may be presented as payment. All charges are calculated in Canadian funds.
Should you wish to make payment by credit card, the AGO will allow up to $5000 payment towards final charges with use of credit card.
