Stephen Andrews: Windmills of my Mind
Stephen Andrews: Windmills of my Mind
According to artist Stephen Andrews, “the act of drawing is similar to dreaming yet being fully conscious… and the next best thing to drawing is looking at them.” When Andrews began to visit the Print and Drawing Study Centre in 2012, he was delighted that he could experience a Turner watercolour or Renaissance drawing without protective glass. Recently, he encountered a series of colour woodcut prints by a French artist, Maurice Busset, and “can’t get them out of his head”. These and other “found” works were explored in Andrews' wide-ranging talk about looking, thinking, and connecting. The talk was held in conjunction with the special AGO exhibition Stephen Andrews POV, on view from April 23 – August 30, 2015.
