On Saturday, May 25 at the first AGO All Hours, the annual AGO Youth Council Party is taking over Baillie Court from 8 pm ‘til midnight for a night of music, dance and artmaking fun – and you’re invited! The party is for all ages and is programmed by the Youth Council members.

Get ready to dance the night away with amazing performances by DJ Gonnie Garko and Toronto’s own Dijah SB and Haviah Mighty. Rather be making art? Join in the DIY fun and create your own friendship bracelets or make a paper fortune teller.

We caught up with some of the AGO’s Youth Council members to get the scoop on their upcoming celebration.

AGO: What can people expect at the AGO Youth Council Party?

Lina Wu: We will have some really cool music artists and DJs performing. And we have a bunch of fun DIY art stations.

Maria Vidal: There will be lots to do for everyone. I’m excited for the music! I can’t wait to dance.

AGO: What’s unique about this year’s party?

Lina Wu: The event is all access, so people are free to chill out near our stage but can also walk around the AGO to enjoy other AGO All Hours experiences like artmaking, DJs, drawing and pop-up talks.

Maria Vidal: There will also be a class with Warehouse Jacks – a House music dance crew. They will be teaching people House dance styles and techniques.

AGO: What do you think about the AGO’s new admission model, which offers visitors 25 and under free
access to the museum?

Maria Vidal: It makes it more accessible. A lot of people living in my area can’t afford to come here, so now that it’s free for visitors 25 and under, it gives me the opportunity to bring more of my friends to enjoy art.

Carson Van Vliet: I’m really happy about it. I’m definitely going to visit the AGO even more.

Getting excited? We are too! Follow along on the AGO Youth Instagram account @agoyouth, or on their Facebook page AGO YOUTH.
