Hanging out with monsters

Toronto’s Fan Expo—the ultimate fan experience for all things fantasy, comics and sci-fi—is not the AGO’s usual haunt, but with Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters opening on September 30, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet some of del Toro’s biggest fans before the exhibition opens.

Convention-goers had fun with our photo booth where they could grab a shot with one of del Toro’s iconic creatures, including Hellboy and the Pale Man. Some of the best over the four days were taken with people who dressed in their Fan Expo finest – one particular wow moment was the monster created by students from Sheridan College, which literally stopped traffic. We hope the students got an A+ on their assignment!

Based on the response we received when chatting with Fan Expo attendees about the exclusive book signing with the famed filmmaker on Wednesday, September 27, we are expecting a big turnout. Make sure you read these tips before you head down to the AGO to avoid disappointment.

For those of you who told us you want to see the show more than once, remember AGO Members see it for free – and as many times as they'd like. Members also get exclusive access to the exhibition before anyone else, with previews starting on Wednesday, September 27. There is no better time to buy or renew a membership.
