The wait is over. Impressionism in the Age of Industry: Monet, Pissarro and more is finally open at the AGO. With over 120 works including many by some of the most recognizable artists of the Impressionist era, this exhibition is not to be missed!

To begin your journey through the industrialization of France, get a sneak peek of the opening gallery space from the AGO’s Assistant Curator of European Art, Dr. Caroline Shields. Outfitted with a reproduction of a period train station, including a soundscape, the space transports you back in time. It’s as if you are waiting to board the train to Argenteuil with Monet himself.

In this video, Dr. Shields introduces you to one of the exhibition’s most exciting paintings, Claude Monet’s Arrival of the Normandy Train, Gare Saint-Lazare. Welcoming visitors to the exhibition, at the entrance it showcases the thrilling hustle and bustle that new technology brought to everyday life in Paris.
