R. Murray Schafer, Past and Future: Schafer's Labyrinth and Apocalypsis Part 1 & 2
Artists: R. Murray Schafer, Barbara Willis Sweete, the Molinari Quartet
Preview Barbara Willis Sweete’s Schafer’s Labyrinth. The completed work will feature all of Schafer’s 13 String Quartets. The footage, shot over four seasons at Schafer’s farm, includes choreography and animation developed from Schafer’s inimitable scores and drawings and music performed by Montreal’s Molinari Quartet.
The short film will run in conjunction with R. Murray Schafer’s theatrical oratorio Apocalypsis. Originally presented as the cornerstone of Luminato 2015, featuring almost 1,000 performers, Schafer’s epic musical voyage will be presented in two parts: John’s Vision and Credo.
FOLDA presents May I Take Your Arm?
Artists: Alex Bulmer, Anna Camilleri, Tristan Whiston, Katie Yealland, Becky Gold
May I Take Your Arm? emerged from audio-recorded walks between blind performer Bulmer and strangers who provided sighted guidance in downtown Toronto. The work has since evolved into an immersive, interactive theatre piece. Now, May I Take Your Arm? is reimagined as an online performance during a global pandemic when we are not, pointedly, taking each other’s arms.
