As you’ve no doubt heard, next March the AGO is presenting the phenomenon that has been winning rave reviews from audiences and selling out museums across the United States. Tickets to Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors, the first survey exhibition to explore the artistic evolution of the celebrated Japanese artist, go on sale to AGO Members on December 12 at 12 Noon and to the general public on January 16 at 12 Noon.
Want an exclusive look into the backstory of Yayoi Kusama, whose hotly anticipated exhibition of infinity mirrors comes to the AGO next year? There’s a way you might just be able to spend some time getting to know Kusama’s work right in her birthplace of Japan, at the recently opened Yayoi Kusama Museum in Tokyo if – you act fast and enter today!
According to The Guardian, “The 88-year-old’s trademark motif – along with her familiar 'infinity nets' and generously lashed eye designs – feature prominently at the museum, from its glass entrance to the interior of the lift and even the mirrored walls of the toilet. The five-storey Yayoi Kusama Museum, located among featureless apartment blocks in the Japanese capital’s western suburbs, attracted huge interest before its public opening [in September]. The global acclaim that has greeted what many believe is Kusama’s golden age has forced the museum’s owners to restrict the number of visitors, with just 50 people to be admitted four times a day for 90 minutes each.”
All of this is why we’re thrilled that as a Promotional Partner of Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors, the Japan National Tourism Organization is offering up a contest that will see one lucky person win a trip for two to beautiful Japan – complete with admission to the Yayoi Kusama Museum itself.
Rich in culture, tradition, and unforgettable beauty, Japan’s attractions are like Kusama’s rooms themselves: infinite. From world-class cuisine and architecture to the iconic cherry blossoms and hot springs, Japan is a country like no other. Discover the spirit of Japan for yourself by entering the contest before it's too late – the final day to enter to win is Tuesday, December 5 2017. The package includes round-trip economy airfare for two to Tokyo, three nights’ accommodation for two in a premium Tokyo hotel, and two tickets to the recently opened Yayoi Kusama Museum. (Approximate Value: $8,000.)
Enter here for your chance to win, and see Kusama’s unforgettable works in her home country.
