Jackman Hall, Art Gallery of Ontario

Melissa Levin (March 30, 1958 – October 27, 2015) was a passionate creator of LGBT video art, a committed advocate for queer youth, and the first facilitator of Inside Out’s Queer Youth Digital Video Project (now named New Visions) in 1999, and again in 2000, returning to facilitate the 10th anniversary Project in 2008. A talented multi-disciplinary artist, Levin made many short videos that screened at Inside Out over the past two decades as well as at festivals around the world and on television. As part of Inside Out’s celebration of Melissa Levin’s life, work and involvement with Inside Out, the evening will include a screening of Melissa’s short video work, followed by video tributes from former Inside Out youth participants who were fortunate to learn from and be influenced by Melissa Levin’s talent, compassion and vision.
