Metamorphoses: Tales of Transformation

January 22 - May 15, 2005

EXHIBITION OVERVIEW

This exhibition focuses on the theme of "transformation" as found in the Metamorphoses, a series of mythical Greek tales written in the 1st century by the Roman poet Ovid. Approximately thirty prints and drawings, illustrated books and sculptures will provide a new perspective on Ovid’s "transforming" themes. The stories of Apollo and Daphne, Dedalus and Icarus, Perseus and Andromeda, and many other fascinating personalities will be explored. The exhibition has been organized in conjunction with the festival Metamorphosis: A City-wide Festival of Transformation and the Arts to be held in Toronto in March, April and May, 2005
