EXHIBITION OVERVIEW

The artists on view here each play with surface textures and the materials of their photographs. In their own ways, they expand two-dimensional picture space into three dimensions, and call attention to framing—be it of the camera, the scanner, the computer screen, or the walls of a room. They highlight how the act of making a photograph transforms what we see, and thus what we experience.

Picture Space brings together artworks by Barbara Astman, Sandra Brewster, Anne Collier, Chris Curreri, Luther Konadu, Suzy Lake, Scott McFarland, Abelardo Morell, Michael Snow, Alec Soth, Cheryl Sourkes, Ian Wallace and James Welling.
