Excerpts and Inserts

Winnipeg artist Cliff Eyland is featured in the 13th exhibition in Present Tense, an ongoing series of current work by Canadian and international artists. Since the early 1980s, Eyland has produced paintings and drawings in various styles and of many subjects - all of them in the identical format of 3”x 5” file cards. He has distributed these works by inserting them in library books, sometimes secretly and sometimes with public acknowledgement. For Present Tense, Eyland’s installation Excerpts and Inserts takes these practices to a new level.
