2024 Camps

Create new and original art projects in your choice of program! Each program is taught by our team of artist instructors in one- and two-week camps. These camps are inspired by the AGO special exhibitions and collections and contemporary art practices.

AGO Camps for campers ages 5-13, focus on a theme or a specific art medium. This summer, our Art Lab, AGO POP, 3D Builders and Miniature Worlds camps are just some of our themed programs that give campers the chance to explore mixed media art-making with a wide range of materials and techniques. These themed camps may include drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, printmaking, and so much more. We also offer medium-specific camps. Cartooning, Animation, and Paint It! offer campers the opportunity to take a deep dive into a focused area of art making.

New this summer is our two-week Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program for campers ages 14-15. The LIT program is a unique opportunity to build confidence and learn personal and professional skills within a camp environment—all while surrounded by the extraordinary art and resources the AGO offers.

All camps will visit the AGO galleries and all art-making materials are included in the cost of camp.

Curious Creators

Creative projects will inspire camper curiosity - colour mixing, wax resist watercolours, hanging mobiles, paper marbling and more. We’ll search for inspiration in the gallery, then create awesome art experiments together.

Art Explorers

In this camp, we explore shapes, colours, textures, materials and a bunch of different ways to make art! From painting and drawing to sculpture and printmaking, we’re going to explore it all and have so much fun discovering new things together!

Create mixed-media art in exciting and unexpected ways in this camp as we explore animals, nature, and all things wild! Inspired by the AGO collection, as well as the plants and wildlife that surround us outside and in our imaginations, we’ll have fun getting wild in the studio while painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking, and more.

In this multimedia camp, let your imagination run wild while you dive into the realm of teeny-tiny and create your very own miniature world! We’ll draw, paint, sculpt and build your own room, planet, and universe and make mini-art versions of all the things you’d find in it!

Inspired by popular culture and pop art, experiment with different artmaking techniques, including printmaking, drawing, painting and more. Create posters, patches, buttons, and tote bags while celebrating the culture and everyday objects that surround us.

AGO summer camp counsellor

Leaders-in-Training

The Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills within a camp environment—all while surrounded by the extraordinary art and resources the AGO offers. This two-week program builds confidence while encouraging you as you learn personal and professional skills.

In week one, you’ll participate in training with experienced AGO staff, covering topics such as teamwork, conflict resolution, diversity, equity and inclusion, problem solving and self-care. In week two, you'll get hands-on experience during placements in our camps, engaging with campers and learning from our Art Instructors and Camp Counsellors. Participants will also have the chance to make their own art during the session. The LIT program is a great way to start building your resume and learn how to meet responsibilities in a supportive and creative environment.
