Critically acclaimed North American exclusive exhibition ends July 20
TORONTO — Only 10 days remain to see Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty in Toronto at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) before it wraps up its only North American appearance on July 20, 2014.
Praised as “fascinating” and “not to be missed” by the Globe and Mail, the exhibition has wowed critics and visitors alike. Twitter has been lit up with inspired comments that call this pairing of the two 20th-century giants “mind-altering” and “haunting.”
Marking the first major exhibition of Bacon’s work ever in Canada, Terror and Beauty brings to life the story of two great British artists whose careers were shaped by the anxieties and trauma of war. Featuring over 130 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, sketches, photographs and studio footage, the exhibition demonstrates how — despite their differences in birth, education, politics and disposition — these two artists strove to restore dignity to the human form.
Timed-entry tickets for Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty can be booked by phone or online at ago.net. Regular-priced tickets range from $16.50 for youth visitors to $25 for adults. Admission is FREE for AGO Members and for children ages five and under.

This exhibition was originally curated by Richard Calvocoressi, Director of the Henry Moore Foundation, and Martin Harrison, editor of the catalogue raisonné on Francis Bacon.
