Annual Pass FAQs

What is the difference between an AGO Membership and an Annual Pass?

Annual Passes offer admission only. AGO Membership offers a wide variety of benefits that are not available to Annual Pass holders, such as Members’ only Previews prior to the opening of special exhibitions, exclusive access to the Norma Ridley Members’ Lounge, coat check, and discounts in shopAGO, AGO Bistro and for courses and classes. Members also have pride in knowing that their support allows the AGO to fulfill its mandate to ensure access to art for all.

Will I receive my AGO Annual Pass right away?

The Pass will be delivered to you via email for you to save on your phone (in an app like Wallet), but it may take some time to be processed. Purchases on or after May 25 will be processed within 24 hrs.

What if I don’t have a mobile phone for the digital card?

Passholders who don’t have a mobile phone can stop by the AGO’s Welcome Desk and present a photo I.D. to obtain a general admission ticket for entry.

Can someone else use my pass?

AGO Annual Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.

How much am I saving by buying a pass?

The AGO Annual Pass is only $10 more than the cost of a single visit, and it’s valid for unlimited entry for an entire year.

Does the AGO Annual Pass give me access to AGO programs and events?

Any programs and events that are included in general admission are free to AGO Annual Pass holders. As is the case now, some programs and events are separately ticketed and/or surcharged, but this information is publicized in advance.

As a Passholder can I bring guests?

Each guest must either pay for a single visit ticket or buy an Annual Pass, if they are over the age of 25. If you are interested in bringing guests, please check out our membership program.

Do visitors 25 and under get their own digital card?

Visitors 18-25 must sign up for a free AGO Annual Pass. Visitors aged 14-17 may sign up for a pass if they wish (using their own valid email address) or may simply enter without a pass. Children 13 and under do not require the Annual Pass and can visit anytime with an adult.

What is the price if you don’t get an Annual Pass?

A single-visit ticket for adults is $25 for the AGO Collection and all special exhibitions. An AGO Annual Pass is only $10 more, and includes unlimited access for an entire year.

What kind of ID can I show to prove that I am 25 or under if I don’t have a driver’s licence?

Any government issued ID with a photo will be accepted, e.g. OHIP card, passport, PR card, or Ontario Photo Card.

How old do children need to be to come to the AGO on their own?

Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I buy a gift of an annual pass? How does that work?

You can purchase an annual pass as a gift at the AGO or online at ago.ca. For on-site purchases, a paper annual pass gift certificate will be created for you to gift. For online purchases, you will receive an electronic gift certificate that you will be able to email to the recipient. Please allow two to three business days for processing.

Is this a pilot?

The AGO Annual Pass offers a full year of unlimited access to the AGO Collection and all special exhibitions for only $35. Admission for visitors 25 and under is free – all year, anytime. We are grateful for the support of our partners who have provided initial funding for the project’s first year. Although it was launched as a pilot project, the Annual Pass is now here to stay.
