If you’re an adult who hasn’t touched clay or seen a canvas since middle school, or a teenager who wants to get into the studio outside of school, we have the course for you! It's low commitment in every single way, and we promise – you won’t be judged!

It’s called Art for Extreme Beginners: Studio Sampler and it's being offered for students aged 14+ in two sessions in September, as part of the AGO's roster of art courses. This three-hour course is only $20 for AGO Members and $25 for the public.

Both courses offer students who have never been in a studio before a chance to try their hand at sketching on paper, painting on a canvas, pulling an image through a silk screen, and squishing and squeezing some clay into a sculpture (the class will offer 30 minutes at each station). It’s a great opportunity to try out artmaking, discover your own style and express yourself—all in a single afternoon or evening. Even all the materials are provided free of charge, so this is truly a worry-free experience! Who said art class had to be intimidating?

Art for Extreme Beginners: Studio Sampler – Adults and Youth 14+ takes place Thursday, September 14, 6 – 9 pm and Saturday, September 16, 1 – 4 pm. All our fall courses, including this one, go on sale on August 16. For more information click here.
