Happy Pride month! Here's a roundup of stories from across the LGBTQ arts community.
June is Pride month; a time to celebrate the LGBTQ community. To mark the occasion, we’ve pulled together a list of some of our favourite stories that celebrate Queer art and artists.
Sur Rodney (Sur) outlines his journey in the LGBTQ community with a review in Artsy of Columbus Museum of Art’s Art after Stonewall, 1969-1989 at the Leslie–Lohman Museum and the Grey Art Gallery; and Nobody Promised You Tomorrow: Art 50 Years After Stonewall at the Brooklyn Museum.

Last month, the Toronto Star featured the story of one of the 20 LGBTQ refugees included in the AM I WRONG TO LOVE? exhibition, an initiative of JAYU at Toronto’s Daniels Spectrum. The portrait series explores the experience of 20 Queer refugees from ten different countries who had to flee their home countries due to their gender expression, gender identity or sexual orientation. The exhibit is on now until July 31.
You may have seen a number of logo remixes throughout the years, but we were struck by the CBC Arts logo designed by Angel Aubichon. Each month, the CBC Arts logo gets a new treatment by a Canadian artist. June is not only Pride Month but also Indigenous History Month, and Aubichon’s logo finds a beautiful way to celebrate both.
