Storytime with Fay & Fluffy
Warm up at AGO All Hours this Saturday for a cozy day of art, pop-up tours, performances and storytelling from Toronto’s favourite drag educator/performers.
When’s the last time you curled up for storytime? If it’s been a while, you’re in for a treat this weekend. On Saturday, January 25 we’re celebrating the return of AGO All Hours – when Brittany Brooks and Fay & Fluffy will bring stories to life with the help of song, dance and performance.
Start your day in Walker Court, which will be transformed into an imaginary campsite. You can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and join in a flurry of snowflake-making to help blanket Walker Court in a glittering layer of freshly created “snow” all day long. And then at 11 am, find a spot by the imaginary fire and get cozy for storytime with Toronto-based drag performers and childhood educators, Fay & Fluffy. Since 2016, they have been serving up popular storytimes and special events that provide a supportive and inclusive environment focused on fun for everyone.
For even more storytime fun, stop by the Marvin Gelber Print & Drawing Study Centre on Level 1 for Brittany Brooks’s interactive installation. Snuggle up for the Fireside Book of Fictitious Folk Songs experience, which includes soothing songs on acoustic guitar. Brooks’s 15-minute performances start at Noon, 2, 4 and 6 pm. Kids are invited to get creative with puppet making and their own storytelling in between performances, from 11 am to 8 pm.
Still want more? Check out the pop-up performances by OCADU’s Spoken Word, Dub & Performance class, taught by the legendary Dub Poet, Educator and Spoken Word Artist, Lillian Allen. These roving performances will engage with works in the AGO Collection through a series of pop-ups at 4, 6 and 8 pm throughout the galleries.
AGO All Hours, admission to the AGO Collection and all special exhibitions is always free for AGO Members, AGO Annual Pass holders and visitors 25 and under.
