Happy birthday, Michael Snow! Distinguished artist and musician Michael Snow is turning 90 years old. We’re celebrating on December 12th with a party in his honour – Snow Everywhere and everyone's invited! Walker Court will be the site of a performance by the improvisational band CCMC, which includes Snow, Paul Dutton, John Kamevaar and John Oswald. This free and festive celebration will be a night to remember.

Why Snow Everywhere? Because Michael Snow’s work is…everywhere. A born and raised Torontonian, Snow is known internationally for his groundbreaking work as a painter, sculptor, photographer, filmmaker and musician. His art can be found all over Toronto. You may have walked under his work in the Eaton Centre – the famous geese suspended in flight in the mall’s atrium (titled Flight Stop). Or perhaps you’ve been greeted by his sculptural piece The Audience outside the Rogers Centre.

The AGO holds the most extensive collection of Michael Snow artworks in the world, along with his archive. We currently have three amazing pieces on view. Snow’s iconic Expo Walking Woman (1967) welcomes our visitors in the Maxine Granovsky & Ira Gluskin Hall. Also on display are photographic works iris-IRIS (1972) in the Philip B. Lind Gallery on Level 1 and Conception of Light (1993) on Level 4 of the Vivian & David Campbell Centre for Contemporary Art.

We can’t wait to toast the 90th year of this exciting and prolific artist!

Snow Everywhere is free and takes place December 12 at 7 pm in Walker Court. See you there!
