Introduction to Everything - Weekend Intensive

Introduction to Everything is a multidisciplinary 2-day intensive course that offers a broad overview of media, providing students with a taste of everything! Designed to spark curiosity, explore a different artmaking technique each week, inspired by themes in the AGO Collection and exhibitions. From printmaking to painting to drawing, sculpture (and more), this is the ultimate crash course in creativity. Whether you’re looking to find a new passion, build foundational skills, or simply broaden your horizons, this is an exciting gateway course.

Introduction to Drawing - Weekend Intensive

This 2-day intensive course introduces students to a range of drawing techniques through exercises designed to develop an awareness of line, volume, form and colour. Working with pencil, graphite, and charcoal, this course draws upon the AGO's collections for inspiration and provides a solid foundation in drawing techniques to prepare you for further study at the AGO.

This course is suitable for all skill levels.

Students are asked to bring their receipt (printed or digital) and meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.

Life Drawing - Weekend Intensive

Life Drawing is a course focused on the study and rendering of the human form. Students will work directly from live models to develop their observational and drawing skills, learning to capture the anatomy, movement, and expressions of the body. This 2-day intensive course will explore various techniques and mediums, including charcoal, pencil, and ink, while emphasizing proportion, gesture, and contour. Through practice and guided critiques, students will gain confidence in depicting the figure with fluidity, as well as experiment with personal styles. 

Drawing in the Galleries

Learn to draw in the company of masterworks and thought-provoking contemporary artists. Enjoy drawing exercises, observation and discussion about art and artists as you visit and explore a different area of the gallery each week. 

This course is suitable for both beginners and returning students.

Students are asked to bring their receipt (printed or digital) and gather in the South Entrance located in the Weston Family Learning Centre for the start of the first class. Please check any oversized bags, portfolios and outerwear before the start of class.

Dive into the vibrant world of pastels in our Drawing Explorations: Pastels course, designed for artists eager to explore this versatile medium. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this course offers a hands-on journey through the rich, velvety textures and brilliant colours that make pastels so unique.
