Caribana Afternoon with Juiceman Jonathan Shaw

Sunday, July 31, 1-4 pm
Walker Court, Art Gallery of Ontario

This summer sees the triumphant return of Toronto Caribbean Festival, the pan-Caribbean Carnival event billed as North America's largest street festival. At the Art Gallery of Ontario we are celebrating with an afternoon DJ set by the one and only The Juiceman Jonathan Shaw in the centre of Walker Court.

In addition to giving a nod to The Toronto Caribbean Festival we revisit the renowned exhibition Fragments of Epic Memory from our Fall/Winter 2021 program by spotlighting its catalogue. Fragments of Epic Memory centred the Caribbean and its diaspora from the period following Emancipation through today. Join the AGO Curator of Arts of Global Africa and the Diaspora, Dr. Julie Crooks, purchase a copy of the exhibition catalogue, and dance away the afternoon.

Jonathan O. Shaw, aka “The Juiceman Jonathan Shaw”, is a pioneer on Toronto’s DJ’ing scene, entertaining audiences for more than 25 years with his unique mix of R&B, soul, calypso, reggae, hip hop, rock, house and dance music. Jonathan has written, voiced and produced numerous commercials for a host of radio stations across North America and the Caribbean, and he manages various aspects of radio production as the Creative Director at ELMNT FM 106.5 in Toronto and 95.7 in Ottawa.
