Be on time for Early Rubens
It’s almost here! Plan your visit to our next big exhibition, Early Rubens, by booking timed-entry tickets this week.
Peter Paul Rubens, Daniel in the Lions’ Den, c. 1614 – 1616. Oil on canvas, Overall: 224.2 x 330.5 cm. National Gallery of Art, Washington, Ailsa Mellon Bruce Fund, 1965.13.1. Courtesy National Gallery of Art, Washington
In just 18 days, the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of Peter Paul Rubens’s masterpieces opens at the AGO, and we can’t wait! Featuring over 30 large-scale paintings – including several that have never left Europe before – and more than 20 works on paper, it’s no wonder that excitement continues to grow for the debut of Early Rubens on October 12. To make it easier for you to plan your visit, timed-entry tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, September 27 at 10:00 am.
With your tickets booked in advance, you can get the most out of your experience by entering into the exhibition at your allotted time and ensuring that you’re only inside the exhibition with a certain number of others.
Want to hear the distinctive sounds of harpsichords, played live in the exhibition? Book your timeslot for one of the performances, taking place every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm and on Wednesdays at 6 pm throughout the run of the exhibition.
Before (or after) taking in the sights and sounds of the exhibition, spend some time checking out some of the amazing works in our AGO Collection that we’ve featured in our Art Pick of the Week – including Two Figures, by Barbara Hepworth, Houses, Richmond Street, by Group of Seven artist Lawren S. Harris or African Appeal by Violet Keene Perinchief.
And after taking in all the fantastic art, stop by the AGO Bistro to try out some of the exhibition-themed menu items or pop into shopAGO to find the perfect souvenir to remember your visit to Early Rubens.
As of September 27 at 10:00 am, purchases and bookings can be made online at AGO.ca, in person and by phone at 416 979 6608. For AGO Members and AGO Annual Pass holders, admission is free with the reservation of a timed-entry ticket. For visitors 25 and under who are not holders of free Annual Passes, you can pick up free tickets in-person on the day of your visit, subject to availability. Members can book online now.
AGO Members can attend exclusive Members’ Previews on October 9, 10 and 11, before the exhibition opens to the public.
Admission to the AGO Collection and all special exhibitions is always free for AGO Members, AGO Annual Pass holders and visitors 25 and under. For more information, please visit the website.
