Living in beauty

AGO Art Rental & Sales is here to help you add some life to your living space.

Claire Desjardins, SoCal 06

Claire Desjardins, SoCal 06, acrylic on panel, 60.96 x 45.72, $1100.00 or 444.00/month.

As winter approaches and the continuation of further restrictions on activity loom, spending more time inside seems inevitable—so what better time to curate your living space? You don’t need a degree in interior design to clear clutter, rearrange furniture or hang some interesting art on a bare wall. If it’s the latter you’re after, look no further than AGO Art Rental & Sales. Since 1965, we’ve consigned artwork from Toronto's top galleries and independent artists, making it available to you for both short- and long-term rental, as well as purchase.

With shorter days and grey winter skies in the forecast, why not add some warm colour to your living room or home office? Or maybe you’d like an abstract piece to help inspire meaningful reflection? Check out some highlights from our Art Rental & Sales collection below.

Stan Olthuis, Captivate

Stan Olthuis, Captivate, House paint and acrylic medium on wood panel, 121.92 x 152.4, $5,900.00 or $236.00/month rental.

Stan Olthuis is a Canadian mixed-media artist who has been making art his entire life. His work addresses the notion that essential energy exists in and around us, unseen, powerful and beautiful. He works in an abstract expressionist vein using workman’s trowels and house paint on wood or canvas surfaces and often incorporates found materials. This gives his work the rawness and immediacy he likes. Pictured above, Captivate perfectly illustrates Olthusis’s unique style.

Claire Desjardins, SoCal 04

Claire Desjardins, SoCal 04, acrylic on panel, 60.96 x 45.72, $1100.00 or 444.00/month.

Claire Desjardins is an award-winning abstract painter who comes from a long line of artists and grew up in Montreal. When asked to describe her colourful abstractions, she said, “My work is an attempt to decipher the chatter in my head, to put forward a less awkward side of myself, to navigate through my everyday chaos towards calm. My paintings are personal. The outside world is referenced quite indirectly through the filter of my emotions. Through my work, I find myself expressing sentiments or reactions of which I am consciously unaware.”

Callen Schaub, Constancy, Unfazed 10

Callen Schaub, Constancy, Unfazed 10, Acrylic and resin on canvas, 121.92 diameter, $10,000.00 or $400.00/month rental.

Callen Schaub is an abstract artist working with paint, natural forces and machines in an innovative way to produce bold and thought-provoking contemporary artworks. With a growing performative practice, Schaub often creates his paintings live at notable events and venues. This work in acrylic and resin, entitled Constancy, Unfazed 10, is a captivating spiral figure.
