It's not too late to learn something new before fall! Summer art school is in session from August 25 to 28, online and outdoors, courtesy the AGO’s Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School. Led by dynamic artist instructors, there are courses for everyone, from age 0 to 100. For more details, keep reading or visit the AGO Courses page.

Looking for something to do at home with the kids? Try one of our Side by Side courses. During these one-hour courses, toddlers (age two to three) and children (age four to seven), with the help of an adult, will focus on self-expression and discovery in this online course. Combining art with play, the two of you will explore various sights, sounds and materials, developing motor skills and sensory awareness along the way. Explore exciting artmaking techniques and learn how to reinvent art materials while working on individual and shared projects.

Are you interested in learning a new art skill but not sure where to start? Consider taking an introduction to drawing or painting course. Aimed at adults, these online courses will help you develop an awareness of line, volume, colour and form, all inspired by works in the AGO Collection.

Looking for an excuse to get out of the house? We have two outdoor adult courses to get you exploring new talents and spaces. An innovative combination of online and in-person instruction, Street Photography is an exciting way to get hands-on experience photographing your city. In this four-part course, participants will learn how to correct exposure, shoot in challenging lighting situations and make strong compositions, while getting experience with their own cameras.

Eager to know what cityscape around the AGO has to offer? City Sketchbook will introduce participants to drawing and painting techniques in a range of media, conducted outdoors. Capture your favourite architecture, landscape details, street view or hillside as you explore the city with a sketchbook in hand.

Registration for summer courses opens today. All courses run from Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, August 28 and have limited availability. For more information and to register, check out the AGO Courses page
