Eli Schwanz is an artist and director living in Toronto (b. 1980, Canada). He received his MFA from OCAD U in the IAMD program, focusing on expanded animation. Select exhibitions include the Art Gallery of Ontario, Gardiner Museum, Aga Khan Museum, Chromatic Festival, Harborfront Center, Design TO, and Democracy Xchange. He is interested in how a viewer's alignment with a piece can expose stillness and motion in real and virtual environments (and spaces in between). His practice examines ways of manipulating attention and perspective through lighting, installation, projection, and patterning. He works digitally and through textile and fabrication processes.
