AGO Makes: Summer Edition - Sketching with the Toronto Zoo
We're going to the Zoo! Grab paper and a pencil and get ready to sketch with us from home! Join Tiana Roebuck, AGO Associate Curator, Studio Programming & Learning in conversation with special guest, Shawn Blackburn, Learning & Engagement Coordinator from the Toronto Zoo. We'll learn all about the largest land carnivore in the world, the mighty polar bear and learn all about gesture drawing - a great way to capture animals in motion!
Shawn Blackburn is one of the Learning & Engagement Coordinators for the Toronto Zoo’s Education Branch. Shawn has been at the Zoo for more than 15 years leading the development of programs for all ages including the award-winning Zoo Camp and the Serengeti Bush Camp overnight experience. Shawn is also the lead designer of one of the Zoo’s newest projects, the NaturePlay Initiative which aims to transform portions of the Zoo into natural play spaces for our youngest guests and give them the ability to play with and in nature.
As one of the largest zoological institutions in the world, the Toronto Zoo plays a critical role in ensuring the survival of many species, and particularly Canadian species. Now more than ever, the work the Toronto Zoo does to save and protect species and their habitats is critical to the ongoing survival of many of the worlds’ most vulnerable species. That is why we are here.
