This workshop series supports participants who identify as having intellectual and developmental disabilities. Join us on Zoom for an interactive art-making workshop that supports the artistic talents of artists with a variety of abilities. In this online virtual studio, we will take a look at artworks from the AGO collection and have fun drawing together!
In this session, we’ll delve into the sometimes playful, sometimes hard-hitting world of contemporary art. We’ll explore how certain artists move beyond traditional painting, drawing or sculpting techniques and use unique materials to share important ideas with the public. For our artmaking component, we’ll pull apart, then glue, layer and transform everyday objects into something brand new!
Collage and drawing: participants will work on paper with scissors, glue stick, magazine pages and drawing materials (pencils, pencil crayons and chalk pastels if you have them). Starting with one or more cut-outs, we will ‘repurpose’ familiar objects into new forms and figures, growing and transforming our drawing/collages from the inside out.
