Free After Three: Style Club - Walk-in Closet

Tuesday, May 15, 2018, 4-6 pm (Ages 14-25)
Weston Family Learning Centre, Art Gallery of Ontario

Show and tell of gems from the vintage vaults. A selection of fun, iconic and designer vintage clothing from the ‘60s ‘70s,‘80s and ‘90s will be presented with some stories that come along with them. Vintage collector Andréa Lalonde will be presenting items from Nouveau Riche and local costume and historical collections. There will be an opportunity to try on and style a selection of garments. Freelance Editorial Stylist Chad Burton will also be there to talk about styling and collaborate with participants in a hands on styling with the clothes.

Andréa Lalonde graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and design with an interdisciplinary degree. She splits her time working with vintage and visual arts, fascinated by ways those come together. Andréa owns Nouveau Riche Vintage, a collection and pop-up project. She previously worked as a vintage clothing buyer in Montreal for many years and as an assistant for a film and television costume collection. Over the last 15 years, Andréa has worked as an artist-educator at museums and artist-run centres including the ROM, the AGO, the Design Exchange and Oakville Galleries.

Chad Burton is an editorial stylist specialising in both on and off-figure stories. Originally from a small farming village on the Canadian prairies, Chad escaped to the fluorescent and booming Asian pop culture machine that is Seoul where he spent five years documenting the South Korean capital's fashion scene and street style, contributing regularly to sites like Street Peeper and Diane Pernet's 'A Shaded View of Fashion'. After dabbling in some e-commerce styling at one of Korea's most popular mens’ online shopping sites, he packed up and moved across the world once again in 2011 to London, England to pursue a career in the magazine industry. Internships with magazines like Schön! and Ponystep led Chad to bigger roles as Fashion Editor for both 1883 Magazine and Boys By Girls.
