Maker Friday: Bright Signs
Maker Friday: Bright Signs
Join us for this free pop-up art-making event, inspired by Khalil Joseph’s powerful 2016 cinematic installation Wild Cat (Aunt Janet), featured in Bright Signs. This immersive three-channel video piece pays tribute to the vibrant legacy of the African American rodeo that takes place every summer in Grayson (formerly Wildcat), Oklahoma. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create their own shadow puppets, drawing from the rich cultural themes and visual storytelling of Joseph’s work. We will explore the interplay of light, shadow, and narrative as we bring artistic visions to life.
Join us every Friday for an inspiring evening of creativity! This monthly event is designed to bring together artists, makers, and art enthusiasts of all skill levels to engage in hands-on art making inspired by the AGO collection and special exhibitions. All materials are provided.
